If you don’t already know, Le Praz is a traditional, beautiful village with a lot of character situated at the lowest part of the Courchevel resort, near the woodlands. As other villages within the resort are known for their nightlife, expensive tastes and all the glamour you can image, Le Praz has stayed untouched maintaining it’s authentic and peaceful reputation.
Our Top 5…
Skiing into the Village
Le Praz is an authentic village and what better way to enter a village than to ski in to it? It is home to cross country ski routes with gentle gradients and makes you feel as though you are a part of a real French ski resort. Skiing back to Le Praz consists of forested red runs, from, although if you feel like finishing your day in another part of the resort, it would be easier to use the buses as transportation rather than skiing till you drop!
The Tree Lined Runs
The tree lined runs in Le Praz are an amazing place to ski when the snow hits. The trees allow greater visibility than higher up on more exposed pistes so whilst enjoying the slopes you are able to witness the most beautiful views. There are a number of ‘ski de fond’ pistes that give you the opportunity to propel yourself along tree lined runs. You can even find hidden gems amongst the trees, such as powder stashes that many skiers and boarders haven’t been fortunate enough to come across.
The Cuisine
With Michelin star dining and cosy atmospheric wine bars, you really are spoilt for choice. Several restaurants are located throughout the resort, but Le Bistrot du Praz is a must, as well as La Table de Mon and Le Cave des Lys. They all offer a range of dishes that we’re sure you’d love. If you’re curious about Apres Ski, we recommend to try a vin chaud in La Table de Mon. You don’t need to worry about going hungry with amazing restaurants.
Le Praz is placed perfectly
Le Praz is a superb location if you’re planning to ski in the Courchevel area and experience other slopes. There is the bubble up to 1850 and you can ski back down to Le Praz with the two red runs into the resort. However, if you’re feeling a bit tired you can get the bubble back down or catch the shuttle bus. Le Praz is a cheaper resort to stay in if you’re on a budget, but Courchevel overall has many activities for you to take part in and make the most out of your trip.
Ski Jumping Hill
Tremplin du Praz is a ski jumping hill situated in Le Praz and it consists of four hills that La Praz received in 1944! The K120 and K90 were then constructed for the Olympic Winter Games. Since 1997, the hill has hosted many exciting events such as the ‘Ski Jumping Grand Prix’ which takes place every summer. It gathers exceptional ski jumpers who compete so an amazing show witnessing talented athletes is always on the cards.
